Fixed chromatic dispersion compensation for C-band links. Fiber-based DCF or FBG-based modules offset G.652 fiber dispersion (10–120 km equiv.), with low loss, low PMD, and 1U or plug-in card options.
The DCM/DCF Fixed Dispersion Compensation Module restores signal integrity by offsetting the accumulated positive dispersion of G.652 single-mode fiber in metro and long-haul DWDM/OTN networks. Available as fiber-based DCF (dispersion compensating fiber) or low-loss FBG (fiber Bragg grating) designs, it provides precise, slope-matched compensation across the C-band to reduce ISI, improve eye opening, and stabilize BER for IM-DD services (e.g., 2.5G/10G and selected 40G).
For sites transitioning toward coherent transmission, the module can be deployed in legacy spans or used selectively where slope trimming is required. DCMs integrate cleanly in HYD 1U/2U/5U platforms with optional mid-stage amplifier support (LA with mid-stage), VOA, and monitor ports to manage insertion loss and power balance.
Compensation ranges: Standard sets for 20/40/60/80/100/120 km G.652 equivalents (typical values ~340/680/1020/1360/1700/2040 ps/nm); custom values available
Technologies: DCF (robust, economical), FBG (lower insertion loss)
Optical performance: Low insertion loss (typ. FBG 1–4 dB; DCF 4–10 dB), low PMD (<0.1 ps), high return loss
Band/spacing: C-band operation, slope-compensated for 50/75/100 GHz DWDM systems
Interfaces: LC/UPC standard; SC/UPC or SC/APC optional; G.652/G.657 SMF compatible
Form factors: 1U 19″ rack module or plug-in card for HYD 1U/2U/5U chassis
O&M: Optional VOA, monitor ports; front access with bend-radius control; labeled panels for clean field work
