Distributed Raman amplification (forward/backward) to extend span length and improve OSNR on C-band DWDM routes—integrates with BA/LA/PA EDFAs for ultra-long reach.
The Raman Amplifier boosts in-fiber signal power using distributed pumping to offset transmission loss before the EDFA stage. Available in Forward Raman (FRA), Backward Raman (BRA), or bidirectional configurations, it raises OSNR and enables longer single spans or reduced inline sites—ideal for metro-long haul and backbone DCI. Closed-loop APC keeps pump power stable under channel add/drop events, while transient control maintains multi-wavelength balance. Hardware interlocks, key-switch enable, and alarms protect personnel and plant. The unit integrates cleanly with HYD optical layers (MUX/DEMUX, OLP, OCM/OTDR) and BA/LA/PA EDFAs to form a resilient, high-reach chain.
Modes: FRA / BRA / bidirectional Raman
Benefits: improved OSNR, extended span distance, fewer inline sites

Safety: Class-1M/3B safeguards (key, interlock, alarms), pump back-reflection protection
Interfaces: LC/UPC standard (SC options); pass-through OSC/OTDR options
Fiber: G.652 (typical); options for G.654 long-haul routes
Management: Web/CLI/SNMP; Netconf/YANG automation (where applicable)
Form factors: 1U rack module or plug-in card for HYD 1U/2U/5U platforms
Use cases: metro-LH spans, backbone DCI, ultra-long-haul pre-/post-EDFA boosting
