Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) line unit for out-of-band management across CWDM/DWDM spans—topology auto-discovery, alarms, and remote O&M independent of live traffic.
The LSU – Line Supervisory Unit establishes an out-of-band OSC to carry management, alarms, and telemetry across your optical layer—independent of client services. Operating at a dedicated supervisory wavelength (e.g., ~1510 nm), LSU traverses amplifiers and add/drop nodes so NEs remain visible even during service interruptions. It auto-discovers network elements and topology, forwards performance/health data to the NMS, and supports protected dual-path OSC for resilient operations.
The card installs into HYD 1U/2U/5U platforms or a 1U standalone chassis and integrates cleanly with MUX/DEMUX, EDFA/Raman, OLP, OCM/OTDR/OLPM for end-to-end observability and control. Local access is available via RJ45/Console, while the supervisory optical interface uses an SFP-based OSC port for flexible reach.
Out-of-band OSC (e.g., ~1510 nm) for management independent of payload
Network visibility: NE auto-discovery, topology map, alarms & logs
Resilience: dual/alternate OSC path options; revertive/non-revertive modes
Telemetry: forwards power/fault events; coordinates with OCM/OTDR/OLPM
Interfaces: OSC SFP port; RJ45/Console for local; dry-contact relays (optional)
Management: Web/CLI/SNMP, Netconf/YANG for automation; syslog & traps
Optical performance: low IL on through path, high return loss; CWDM/DWDM compatible
Power & form factor: −48 VDC (optional AC); hot-swappable card for HYD 1U/2U/5U or 1U unit
