In-service optical tap (1–10% ratios) with protected, amplified monitor output for spectrum/power analysis—feed OSA/OCM/OTDR without traffic interruption.
The OTAP – Optical Tap & Spectroscopic Amplification Module provides non-intrusive, real-time visibility into live DWDM/CWDM links. A precision tap diverts a small, fixed percentage of line power to a safeguarded monitor port for spectroscopic tools—OSA (optical spectrum analyzer), OCM (optical channel monitor), or OTDR—while the main path remains in service.
An integrated low-noise pre-amplifier (model-dependent) and optional VOA condition the monitor signal to prevent analyzer overload and to maintain consistent levels across changing channel counts. Low insertion loss on the through path, high return loss, and minimal PDL ensure stable multi-wavelength operation. The card fits HYD 1U/2U/5U platforms and pairs cleanly with MUX/DEMUX, EDFA/Raman, OLP, and OLPM/OCM modules for end-to-end observability and rapid troubleshooting.
