Electrically tunable C-band dispersion compensator for DWDM IM-DD links—remote set-and-hold control to fine-tune span dispersion and stabilize BER without truck rolls.
The TDC (Tunable Dispersion Compensation) Module provides variable chromatic dispersion compensation for G.652 single-mode fiber, enabling precise, in-service tuning on metro and long-haul DWDM/OTN links using IM-DD rates (e.g., 2.5/10/25/40G). Paired with OCM/OLPM telemetry, it lets operators close the loop on power/dispersion settings, recover eye opening, and reduce post-FEC errors when spans change or when routes are reconfigured.
Available as a 1U rack device or a plug-in card for HYD 1U/2U/5U platforms, the TDC integrates via Web/CLI/SNMP and Netconf/YANG, supports preset profiles per route, and offers fine step control for rapid commissioning. Optional mid-stage amplifier support (LA with mid-stage) and VOA/monitor ports help balance insertion loss and OSNR while maintaining stable multi-wavelength operation.
Wide tuning range: up to ±1600 ps/nm (models available by range); fine step control
Low optical impairments: low insertion loss, low PMD (typ. ≤0.2 ps), high return loss
Fast operations: quick set/settle, non-disruptive in-service adjustment
Closed-loop ready: integrates with OCM/OLPM for automated optimization and alarms
Management: Web/CLI/SNMP, Netconf/YANG; preset profiles & thresholds
Form factors: 1U 19″ rack module or plug-in card (HYD 1U/2U/5U)
Optics & interfaces: C-band; LC/UPC standard (SC options); G.652/G.657 SMF
Power: −48 VDC (optional AC); low power consumption for POP/IDC sites
